Since we last spoke:
I hosted a TNT ride for the team that headed off to Wildflower.

Was beyond thrilled that the coaches let me plan a longer ride for the team.
We did 32 mile ride with great climbing and challenging flats.

Yes that is Eva Luna, the magnificent, in the pink hat. I am evidently the type of sister-in-law who will conscript the recently mastectomied to help SAG for a ride. It was a darn good thing because our other SAG went completely MIA for most of the ride. Eva Luna had to find him to get him back on the course to help sweep with the slower riders.
Also, the night before Eva Luna and I had a blast marking the course. We were actually pulled over by the highway patrol asking why we were painting arrows...Eva Luna sailed right in over me, smiled, explained beautifully and off we went to mark the last 12 miles. It was quite fun.
We were running around trying to get things marked before the sun went down...

You should really come and ride with me. It is just so amazing.
Anyway, the TNT ride went well. Then we had our CASA fundraiser. This went quite well also. I was able to only purchase raffle tickets because I was completely dwarfed in both the silent and live auction - that is a good thing. Alpha is always nervous when I go to these things. Let's just say that we do have about 2 weeks of purchased trips we haven't used oh and then there was the time I ended up buying a $300 fireplace poker set....
uh...we don't have a fireplace...
in fact, I was the one that had the fireplace removed...
so you can understand his nerves...
The next day was my tri club's annual Kid's Triathlon. I always help with this but for some reason the idea of being at this event this year was just a bit too much for me. So, I sent my craft supplies with someone else along with an apology. I felt bad, but it turned out fine.
Plus, it gave me more time for Confessions who surprised us by being in town for the weekend. We were able to do a 6.7 mile training run on Sunday. It was fantastic.
Tried to swim a bit afterwards in the lake. This did not go so well since I was sweaty from the run. I could not get my wetsuit on...but tried. It was kind of like trying to swim with thera bands around your legs and arms.
Work has been mad crazy with deadlines. Then there was the swine flu breakout and associated hysteria and nerves which makes crazy deadlines even more challenging to meet. Great...
I didn't feel well all week but just kept pushing through...
but I only had time for work...no time for workouts until Thursday when I managed to get a ride in after work...
On Thursday I was elated to meet a new girl cyclist that moved to our area and wants to ride. We went on a short 30 miler to show her the area. When we came back to our cars we discovered that although she has only lived here a week she has managed to already get herself a stalker.
It was bizarre. He was waiting at the park where we leave our cars. He must have been waiting for quite some time because we were somewhat bad and came in late with our lights on. So his story was that he "drove by and noticed her car and decided to hang out and wait to say 'hi.'"
He finally left and we decided we will have to change our routes for a bit to dust the guy.
It was really odd.
Friday I felt less than stellar and by lunch I was running a fever. I was sent home because of this flu nonsense. Continued to run a fever through Saturday, finally was able to get in only to find that I have a sinus infection...medicated myself and slept Saturday and Sunday away,
until my mom calls me around 2 or so in a panic about her open water swim. We had done this local tri a couple of weekends ago and NO ONE had a good swim. It was miserable...and my poor mother had a REALLY BAD swim. Every now and then you have a panic open water swim and it is hard to get yourself centered again.
Anyway she calls me telling me how nervous she feels, the things she wants to try, blah blah blah, I keep telling her "to stop freaking out, you had a bad swim, what the hell, it doesn't define you, it makes you stronger..." - she didn't sound so convinced. So about 10 minutes later I called her back and told her we were headed to the lake to swim for just 30 minutes to get over this fear monster.
On Day 2 of antibiotics, I went for an open water swim in mountain stream water.
I am such a smart one.
BUT, she is over her fear...had a great swim and has her confidence back.
That was the most important thing.
Because this Saturday we have....
I am quite excited. I love this tri. I call it the Princess Tri. You stay in a 5 star hotel, run around a resort area, swim in a private lake, pink, pink and then more pink...quite the girl event.
I was hoping to do better this year because last year I was REALLY sick. Stupid sick.
Alpha only let me do it because I promised I would stop if I felt lightheaded or bad.
I had almost an entire box of kleenex in my tri shorts on the bike and run. I was a mess.
Right now I am just hoping that missing a week of workouts and trying to taper but get a few key workouts in early this week will be enough for this weekend...
Oh and my friend that is doing the tri with me called me last night to tell me her arm is splinted from an injury this weekend. Such a bummer! She is going to try and swim Thursday to see how she feels before we head off.
Maybe next year we will all be healthy and trained for this event. It is such a great course.
Hey! And you could do it with us...come on, it would be so much fun.
See...
Can you imagine?
We could have a blogger team...
What do you say? You know it would be fun...
You could totally do the Sprint Distance!

You are my hero.
Now I'm going to eat some cake.
OK, I'm coming next year to do the sprint distance (instead of eating cake).
wow, you make me feel so lazy. :) i haven't done any sort of working out in 4 1/2 years. i've been trying to motivate myself to start yoga again the past few days. still putting it off...
you frighten me with your physical fitness, and your motivation, and your wonderful photos of beautiful scenes seen outdoors.... wow!!
Just when I was back in running, I TOO AM SICK! I came with something (swine flu) on Monday just after getting our fantastic news. Yes, I think the girls at the office here are passing around something undesireable. I hope it's not a sinus infection, we MUST be well in two and half weeks.
BTW, YOU ARE AMAZING.
Cindy
yeah, I could totally do the sprint distance. IF THERE WAS A GUN TO MY HEAD. Seriously, you are really starting to annoy me with your fitness level. :-)
